The Salvation Army was founded on this date in 1865.

ETA: marinwood pointed out, not unreasonably, that Bramwell Booth appeared twice in the original version of this list. I explained that there have so many Generals of the Salvation Army named Bramwell that it was easy to overlook the duplication. Nevertheless, I regret the error.
