Ten random things: June 10

Ten songs I heard on the radio while donated blood this afternoon:

  1. Bob Seger - Old Time Rock and Roll
  2. Lifehouse - You and Me
  3. Natasha Bedingfield - Unwritten
  4. Daughtry - Life After You
  5. George Benson - On Broadway
  6. KT Tunstall - Black Horse and the Cherry Tree
  7. David Cook - The Time of My Life
  8. Rod Stewart - Maggie May
  9. Gwen Stefani - The Sweet Escape
  10. Maroon 5 - She Will Be Loved

Strictly speaking, what I donated today was not blood per se but red blood cells. It's called erythrocytapheresis: blood is drawn from my veins and fed through a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells; the remaining blood (mostly plasma, but also leukocytes, platelets, stem cells, and lipids) is pumped back into me, along with a bit of saline . Then they do it again, so they end up with two units of red blood cells. Fun!
