Betty Leicester's Christmas, 1899
Black, pink, yellow, green, and blue stamping on white calico-grain-cloth

University of Wisconsin Library, Madison, Wis.
Here's something different! In the two previous years I've posted seasonal art, and in the six years or so that I've posted an artwork every Sunday, I've never posted a book as a work of art. But the University of Wisconsin Library says it's a work of art--it's in their Publishers' Bindings Online, 1815-1930: The Art of Books collection--and who am I to argue with such an august institution?
This is not a book I have read. The Madison Public Library system doesn't own a copy, nor does any of the 52 libraries in the South Central Library System. In fact, according to WorldCat there are only two libraries in the entire state of Wisconsin that have a copy: UW-Madison (obviously) and UW-River Falls. But it's available to read for free at www.archive.org/details/bettyleicestersc
