Art on Sunday: Spirals I

A discussion of crochet amongst several of the people I follow on Twitter sent me looking for some fabric art. Finding a work to feature was easy. The hard part was finding out when this artist was born, and of course it was vitally important I find it because posting it without her date of birth would have violated one of my silly, pointless rules concerning art posts. Horrors!

Also! I decided I was tired of my old art icon, so I made a new one. Perhaps you will recognize it! It is a reasonably well known work of American art.
