One of the nicest perks of my new job is that I get to ride the bus for free. Actually free, not the odd "membership fee" kind of free that I mentioned here. This afternoon I hoofed it over to the closest Transportation services office to pick up my pass, and as I put it in my wallet, I realized I no longer needed the 31-day bus pass I was currently using. So I decided to give it away.
I Tweeted a handful of people I know in Madison to ask if they knew anyone who might be able to use a 31-day pass with nine days left on it, and one of them suggested I give it to a social service organization, mentioning the Salvation Army and a local group called Porchlight. I didn't know anything about the latter, so I Googled the name and leaned a) it's an organization that provides services to homeless people, and b) its main office was less than five blocks away. That was perfect, because I figured the sooner I got rid of it, the sooner it could get to someone who could use it, so on my way to the bus stop this afternoon I dropped in and handed it off to a staff member. I hope they're able to get it into the hands of someone who needs it.
Incidentally, as the list name suggests, this is a sequel to a list originally posted on September 13, 2007.
