Yesterday brought word of another death of geekish interest: British actor Nicholas Courtney, who played Brigadier Sir Alistair Gordon Lethbridge-Stewart in 104 episodes of Doctor Who spanning 21 years and five regenerations. That's not to mention the 30th anniversary special Dimensions in Time, an episode of the Doctor Who spin-off The Sarah Jane Adventures, and sixteen audio dramas. He appeared in more serials as a guest star than many people did as series regulars. I regret that Courtney was unable to reprise the role in the new series, but it was nice seeing him turn up on The Sarah Jane Adventures.
