Poet's Corner: Twizzlers

Red and
Any time.
Happy or
Sad time
Any time
Is Twizzler
The twist
You can't

Mary Elizabeth Heaton (born 2001)

I think this is a good poem with which to kick off National Poetry Month, because it demonstrates that poetry can be written at any age on any subject. I will admit to being somewhat biased when it comes to this particular poet, but I think this is rather good! I like how it mimics the shape of the candy that inspired it. And even though it reads like ad copy, I know she really does love Twizzlers. (And even if she didn't, I am in no position to criticize her on that point, having written a story containing several lines that were literally copied from an Infiniti QX56 sales brochure.)
