I visited Europe in 1985. The trip was sponsored by my high school Latin club, though we did nothing to speak of that had anything to do with the study of Latin, aside from a short trip to the Vatican, during which we spoke no Latin and heard no one speaking Latin.
During a trip to Michigan for friend's wedding, I drove to Windsor, Ontario -- via the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel, the only vehicular international sub-aqueous border crossing in the world -- to have lunch with one of my Melrose Place friends. Why? Just so I could say I'd been to Canada.
