My friend rustydog was in town this weekend for a family wedding, and happily she managed to find a bit of time in her schedule for a short visit. Too short, if you ask me, but I think most people would agree that every visit with Rusty is too short. As we discussed the visit yesterday, she mentioned that she didn't really want to "do" anything, "just visit a bit and look around." So here's what I came up with:
- Meet at an obscure, well-hidden parking lot in the Lakeshore Residence Halls area of the UW-Madison campus.
- Walk up Observatory Hill and down Bascom Hill to the Memorial Union Terrace.
- Set for a spell.
- Get Babcock Hall ice cream -- made on the UW campus with milk from UW cows! -- from the Terrace Ice Cream Stand.
- Walk back to the parking lot via the Lakefront Path.
I think that struck a nice balance between looking around and visiting. And we could hardly have had a better day for it than today! Not that there's ever a bad day for a visit from Rusty.
