They've chosen a new Doctor, and it's a terrible, bad, completely awful choice!
Peter Capaldi is a terrible choice. #Doctorwholive— Sam lincoln (@SamALincoln) August 4, 2013
Peter Capaldi the new Dr Who bad choice in my opinion! That's a step backwards for a programme that has rejuvenated itself!— Marcus Weedon (@MarcusWeedon) August 4, 2013
The worst choice, really.
Sorry Peter Capaldi....worst choice ever. #thenewdoctor— David Jackson (@davidjackson) August 4, 2013
I'm going to cry. Before the show Ben asked who would be the worst choice out of the rumors, I said Peter Capaldi.— alicethwaites (@alicethwaites) August 4, 2013
Plus, he's ugly.
Peter Capaldi is the new Doctor Who...stupse, the BBC like they jus determine to have ugly men as the Doctor then...smh— Carol A.King (@Confess2Carol) August 4, 2013

Peter Capaldi is too old to play the Doctor. I don't think hes gonna be able to stand up to Smith or Tennant.— Jesse Strika (@JesseStrika) August 4, 2013
I really love Doctor Who, too much of a drastic change from Matt Smith to Peter Capaldi. He's old as fuck— Sam Huxley (@samhuxleybfc) August 4, 2013
In short, it's enough to render one incapable of spelling simple words or using proper grammar.
What going on with dr who peter capaldi WHAT A TERRIBLE CHOISE there's better actors out there BAD CHOISE APPAULD— frank garnham (@frankoslady) August 4, 2013
At least, that's what some people are saying.
I'm always amused by the way Doctor Who fans reflexively hate anything new. As for me, I'm fine with the choice. I mean, I know nothing about the guy; other than the Doctor Who episode he appeared in, "The Fires of Pompeii," I think the only thing he's been in that I've seen is Local Hero. Which is a great movie, but it's hardly enough to base an opinion on. That said, I think everyone who's played the Doctor has brought something fun and interesting to the role. Yeah, even Colin Baker and Paul McGann. True, most of Baker's episodes were pretty terrible, and the TV movie was crap, but they've both done great work on the Big Finish audios, and I faith that Steven Moffat won't handicap Capaldi with the crummy scripts Baker and McGann got.
