Yahoo's new logo

Yahoo!, my email provider for 15 years or so, has a new logo:

It's OK, and compared to many of the alternatives it's downright magnificent. But even if I hated it, who cares what I think? And it's not like the logo has any effect on me or on the way I use the site. Most days I don't even see it.

It's not, I must say, my favorite of the alternate logos that were posted over the last 30 days. That would be this one:

I think that one has a fluidity and dynamism that both the old and new logos lack. I'm aware that there are subtle curves and that the exclamation point is tilted at a jaunty angle, but it's still awfully stolid and kind of boring. But like I said, ultimately it makes no difference to me, so who am I to complain?
