Bad poetry

Buffy fandom pal Doug posted a silly little game on Facebook today: "Put your iPod on shuffle, press play and the next button. Write the first line of lyrics from the first ten songs to create a lyrical poem." I don't have an iPod, so I used the MP3 player on my computer instead. And here's what I got:

Come clean through the waves of debris
In California, I dream of snow
The lights were low but I was lower
Grey skies and light fading
I'd arrest you if I had handcuffs
I believe you've had something that's mine, all this time
I wake up, my shoulder's cold
You look like a perfect fit
So long ago, I don't remember when
Find a cure, find a cure for my life

Some of those pairs of lines work together frighteningly well, but overall it's not much of a poem. Oh well.

If anyone cares, here are the songs whose first lines are quoted above:

New Pornographers - July Jones
Neko Case - In California
Old 97's - No Carol Eye (Demo)
Stars - Take Me to the Riot
Brand New - Handcuffs
New Pornographers - Moves
Vampire Weekend - Campus
Aimee Mann - Save Me
The Wallflowers - One Headlight
Ida Maria - Oh My God
