The funny thing about metrification in the United States is that while we'll probably never fully convert to the metric system, it has crept into certain market segments to such an extent that reverting to the old English system in those areas would be unthinkable. It's hard to imagine large bottles of pop being sold in anything other than two liter bottles (and yet equally hard to imagine buying a two liter bottle of anything else, like milk). And if we stopped selling 35mm lens cameras, people would be completely flummoxed.
