For the first time in many months, I've made some new LiveJournal icons. These are all seasonally appropriate, but they also follow in my tradition of having icons that correspond with the topics I discuss most frequently in my journal.

Superman and SantaThis is my new comics icon. It's adapted from a panel in a 1940 giveaway comic called Superman's Christmas Adventure, in which Superman not only helps Santa deliver his toys, but also teaches a spoiled rich kid the true meaning of Christmas, and foils the evil plans of Dr. Grouch and Mr. Meaney. Truly, it was a Golden Age.
Schroeder and LucyAt first glance, this may seem to be unrelated to the season, but let's not forget that Beethoven's birthday is December 16, and that the beloved Christmas carol "Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee" is sung to the tune of Beethoven's "Ode to Joy." So there. I'll use this one for music posts.
Madonna and childThis one made its debut a few days ago. It's based on Raphael's Madonna of Foligno, a framed print of which you can buy from The Catholic Company. This icon will accompany my Christmas poems.
It's a Wonderful LifeThis icon will be used for posts about movies. Both the picture and the text are of course taken from It's A Wonderful Life. Not that you didn't already know that.
Happy HolidaysLastly, my new default icon is one I made last year, but used for less than one day before replacing it with a strange Death To the Extremist-inspired icon. But I always liked this one, so I figured I may as well resurrect it.
