My choral group is performing Beethoven's 9th Symphony in two weeks. We have to perform it from memory. The problem is that it's in German, and since I don't speak or read German I have to memorize it phonetically and sort of take it on faith that what I'm memorizing actually means something.
I now have the first 16 bars memorized (aside from fairly consistently singing "do wein" instead of "wo dein"). I hope the people who saw me at the bus stop last night and walking to work this morning muttering Deine zauber binden wieder was die mode streng geteilt; alles menschen werden brüder wo dein sanfter flügel weilt to myself appreciated my efforts.
