Ten random things: March 29

Ten songs written or co-written by Lamont Dozier:

  1. "Where Did Our Love Go"
  2. "I Can't Help Myself (Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)"
  3. "Reach Out I'll Be There"
  4. "(Love Is Like A) Heat Wave"
  5. "A Love Like Yours (Don't COme Knocking Everyday)"
  6. "Baby Don't You Do It"
  7. "Hung Up on Your Love"
  8. "Standing in the Shadows of Love"
  9. "You Keep Me Hangin' On"
  10. "Leaving Here"

I had no idea before I stared compiling this list that "Leaving Here" was a Holland/Dozier/Holland composition. I knew it as a Pearl Jam cover of a Who song, but it turns out that it was originally a minor hit for Eddie Holland in 1964. Go figure.

An important proclamation

You know, there are a lot of good songs out there, and at any given time I might prefer to hear one particular song more than any other, but the fact of the matter is that when you come right down to it, "Twisting By the Pool" is the greatest song ever recorded.
