10-I

Ten random things: May 26

Ten Buffy episodes I am:

  1. "Bewitched, Bothered, and Bewildered"
  2. "Band Candy"
  3. "Once More With Feeling"
  4. "School Hard"
  5. "Graduation Day Part 2"
  6. "Bad Girls"
  7. "Life Serial"
  8. "Anne"
  9. "The Gift"
  10. "Restless"

I obtained these results by feeding my name and variations thereof (plus a couple of old screen names I no longer use) into this quiz. Remarkably, I only got one duplicate: "Life Serial.

Mystery song

Hey, I heard a song earlier today that really reminded me of "Carry On, My Wayward Son." The tune was so similar that at first I thought it must be a cover, but a closer listen proved that not to be the case. I don't know who sang it (who sang the song I heard today, that is; I know "Carry On, My Wayward Son" is by Kansas), but it sounded vaguely Britney-esque. Don't remember any of the lyrics either. Does anyone know what I'm talking about?

In which I confess a temporary inability to read digital clocks, &c.

At exactly 10:03 this evening, I was looking my car stereo. I know this because at the time I was listening to 100.3 FM, and I spent a second or so staring stupidly at my radio's display trying to figure out why it was showing me the frequency of the station I was listening to instead of the time.

Later, I heard a song that I had never heard before. That's practically unprecendented; like many oldies stations, WBIG tends to play the same few songs over and over, and they almost never add to songs to the playlist. The song, by the way, was "Smoke From a Distant Fire" by the Sanford-Turner Band, which apparently peaked at number nine in 1977. I'm not sure how I missed hearing it; I was a regular radio listener in those days, and it's hard to believe that it wouldn't have been played on WLS, which was the dominant pop station in Chicago at the time.

I had something else to say about or at least related to WBIG, but it escapes me at the moment. So I'll just say happy birthday to hcwoodward and mistagoalie, and go to bed.
