Ten random things: Reader Request Month, day 26

Ten alliterative film titles:

  1. The Seventh Seal
  2. Koyaanisqatsi
  3. Manhattan Murder Mystery
  4. Red River
  5. Black Brush
  6. Nanook of the North
  7. Tin Toy
  8. Manhattan Melodrama
  9. Magical Maestro
  10. King Kong

Greg Sorenson wanted to see the movie Manhattan Melodrama mentioned in a list. Manhattan Melodrama, of course, is the film John Dillinger watched just before being shot down by the Feds in front of the Biograph Theater in Chicago. But what a lot of people don't now is that shortly before he was shot, he was transported through time to the thirtieth century, where his personality was transplanted into the body of Ultra Boy. It's true! I read it in a book.

Koyaanisqatsi is pronounced KO-yah-nis-KAHT-se, by the way.

I was disappointed to hear that Don Adams had passed away. When I was a kid, I was very interested in secret passages, hidden doors, and things that were disguised to look like other things, so Get Smart! was particularly appealing to me, what with the secret entrance in the phone booth and the various sliding doors through with Maxwell Smart had to pass to reach CONTROL heaquarters. And the shoe phone was pretty freaking cool too.

I was also a big fan of Tennessee Tuxedo, whch was still frequently shown in syndicated reruns back when I was a wee bairn. "Quick, Chumley, grab this pole!" And of course he was excellent as Inspector Gadget, but I was in high school when that premiered, so it didn't have quite the same impact on me as Tennessee Tuxedo did.
