Poet's Corner: An Apology

An Apology

Forgive me
for backing over
and smashing
your red wheelbarrow.

It was raining
and the rear wiper
does not work on
my new plum-colored SUV.

I am also sorry
about the white
chickens.

F. J. Bergmann

I wasn't going to post a poem today (for reasons which will become clear tomorrow) but I was flipping through a book of poetry on my break and ran across this little gem, and I couldn't resist.

Art on Sunday: Special Saturday edition!

Winslow Homer

I'm posting a work of art tonight because tomorrow is the first Sunday in Advent, so my Art on Sunday posts will be on hiatus until January 7, 2006.

I'd like to think that the sick chicken in this painting is the same one mentioned in this poem. But that's just me.
