Advent 2011: Season's Greetings and Best Wishes for a Happy New Year

I feel compelled to atone for trying to pass off that Italian/French/Belgian card I posted yesterday as an Illinois card, and luckily I have just the thing. I picked up these cards last year at the Museum Shop at the Art Institute of Chicago on deep, deep discount. The original cost for the box of 20 was $18.95; I paid two bucks. 90% discount, that's pretty good, right? It'll be an even better value if I ever get around to sending them.

Anyway! The point is that these cards are thoroughly Chicagoan in nature. Indeed, according to the label on the back, the name of the illustration on the front of the card is Twirl Girl Over Chicago. And sure enough, there are quite a few Windy City landmarks pictured here: the Giant Wheel at Navy Pier; the Franklin Street Bridge; Marina City; the Willis (nee Sears) Tower; the John Hancock Center; the Aon Center; Cloud Gate (a.k.a. The Bean); Soldier Field; the El; the Chicago Water Tower; one of the Art Institute lions; Lake Michigan; and a couple other things I can't immediately identify. Hard to believe the Picasso isn't there somewhere, but I suppose that having too many iconic landmarks to fit into one illustration is not a bad problem for a city to have.
