Ten random things: Washington Post week, day two

Ten animals mentioned in "Imperiled Creatures Great and Small Dwell in D.C.," an article appearing on the front page of the Metro section of the August 23, 2004, edition of the Washington Post:

  1. Eastern cougar
  2. Hay's Spring amphipod
  3. Bald eagle
  4. Devil's Hole pupfish
  5. Delhi Sands flower-loving fly
  6. Grizzly bear
  7. California condor
  8. Ivory-billed woodpecker
  9. Kauai 'O'o
  10. Atlantic sturgeon

An administrative note: over the next two weeks or so I'll be rolling out a bunch of new icons. Back when I started posting lists of ten random things, I used the same icon every day. Then I introduced several others, until I had thirteen different icons I used for my lists. That was fine for a couple of months, but eventually I decided I needed some new icons. Unfortunately, I had trouble finding any good pictures that featured the number 10 in some way. So naturally I turned to the Roman numeral X. Eventually I may give the X icons a rest and return to the 10s, but for now enjoy the XIII new icons.
