Season premieres

Before I get to the Thursday premieres, let me mention The West Wing: I liked it. Aaron Sorkin managed to restrain himself a little bit, and there were some truly great lines. "300 IQ points between them [Toby and Josh] and they can't find their way home. If Donna wasn't there, I'd swear they'd have to buy a house." Classic. One quibble: why did decide to get off the bus at Arlington Cemetery and walk to the White House? Sure, it's not that far, but it's a good mile and a half, at least. Sorkin's willingness to sacrifice geographic accuracy for the sake of a good visual has always bugged me.

Friends: The first half was extremely funny! It's such a hackneyed plot, but the cast is so tight that they carried it off like it had never been done before. The second half not as funny, but it wasn't supposed to be.

Scrubs: The new title sequence is not as good as the old one, but it's good to see the janitor added as a regular. The thing with Colin Hay was pretty funny, but kind of derivative of the thing from the first season of Gilmore Girls with Grant Lee Phillips. Glad to see Crista Miller back, because she's seriously hot.

Will and Grace: Eh, it was OK. I've never been that big a fan. I do like Harry Connick Jr. though.

Good Morning, Miami: Not that good. It reminds me quite a lot of Boston Common, which is not really a good thing. Ashley Williams -- not unattractive, but not really my type. And she seems awfully young. Maybe I'm just old.

ER: So what was the big surprise, Romano's arm or that Carter and Abby slept together? Carter is such a slut. Aside from that, all I have to add is that I was surprised to see that Mehki Phifer get second billing. I figured he'd go into the Eriq LaSalle slot.
