At least it was a nice day. Temps were up in the mid-70s, the humidity was low, the sun was shining, there was a light breeze… what's not to like? Tomorrow is iffy; they're calling for showers early, with thunderstorms late in the day. I'm not on apple butter duty tomorrow—I'm greeting at the church in the morning, then singing with the Loudoun Chorale in the afternoon—so I won't have to spend much time outside. But the fair is always more fun with the crowds are large, and they're not likely to be so if it's raining. Bah. Sunday should be good, though.
I saw many people walking around Waterford today sporting Kerry/Edwards stickers and buttons, thanks to a clever exploitation of a loophole in the fair's rules. The Waterford Foundation, which sponsors the fair, doesn't allow political booths, but the Loudoun County Democratic Committee's Catoctin District Chairman just happens to live in Waterford. So he's just hanging around his yard all weekend giving away Kerry/Edwards stuff. Heh. I wonder if the Loudoun County GOP will find a Bush supported who lives in the village to do the same thing on Saturday and Sunday, because it appeared to be an extremely effective strategy; the ratio of Democratic political paraphernalia to Republican was approximately all of it to none.
