I spent a very enjoyable Thanksgiving with my brother and his family here in Leesburg. This was the first time since, hmm, 1996 or so that I traveled less than 30 miles for Thanksgiving dinner, so that was a nice change of pace. Not that I haven't enjoyed the Thanksgivings I spent out of town, but Thanksgiving is a homey sort of holiday, so it's nice to be near home for it.

It was also nice being at the home of one of my own relatives. In recent years, I've spent many Thanksgivings and several Easters up in Pennsylvania at my sister-in-law's parents's home. I've always had a good time and have never been made to feel unwelcome, but it's hard for me to be there without feeling like a hanger-on.
