I said Brrr! It's cold out here

We had our first significant snowfall of the year here in Loudoun County this weekend, and as usual people are over-reacting to it left and right. The snow stopped yesterday afternoon, and by 10 PM the major roads were clear, and by this morning even the side streets here in Leesburg had been plowed. Nevertheless, my church cancelled services this morning, and the Loudoun Chorale cancelled tonight's rehearsal yesterday afternoon. To be fair, the roads in the western part of the county, where my church is located and many of its members live, usually don't get plowed as quickly as those in the east, if they get plowed at all, and it's possible that they got more snow out that way than on this side of the ridge. Still, I'm outraged.

Of course, I was planning to skip church this morning anyway. The DC-area TWoPers planned an ice skating get-together at the National Gallery Sculpture Garden skating rink this afternoon, and I decided to attend, even though I can't ice skate worth a lick. Unfortunately, the turnout was small—just me, M. Darcy, and Tigershark—presumably due to the low temperatures. And yeah, it was a tad on the chilly side. Nevertheless, I had a good time watching the skaters and talking with my friends when they stopped to rest, and later chatting at the Pavilion Cafe.
