Random thoughts on TV:
- I learned this afternoon that Clear Channel produces Smallville and Birds of Prey. I despise Clear Channel for the horrible things they've done to the US radio industry (see Eric Boehlert's reports on the company at salon.com for the gory details) and it troubles me to learn that they're at least in part responsible for two shows I rather enjoy. It could be worse, of course -- they could produce Buffy -- but having them involved in Smallville is bad enough.
- No Simpsons tonight because of baseball. Argh! Hate baseball. Hate it hate it hate it.
- My TiVo picked up some episodes of Jonathan Creek recently, thanks to my "Anthony Head" season pass, and I just tonight got around to watching one of them. I was amused to discover that the theme music for Jonathan Creek is Saint-Saëns's "Danse Macabre" -- which was used memorably in the Buffy episode "Hush." I guess the latter was sort of a shout-out to Anthony Stewart Head's pre-Buffy career.
Jonathan Creek is a bit of all right, incidentally. It's interesting in that the title character has, halfway through this particular episode, appeared on screen for no more than five minutes. Kind of odd. Whoops, here he is again. No sign of ASH yet, either.
