The Palisades Park Amusement Park was located in Bergen County, New Jersey, just south of the George Washington Bridge. (fox1013, I get the impression from that you may live on the former park grounds. Can you confirm?) The park opened in 1898, and was shuttered for good in 1971. When I was a wee lad, I would see ads for the park in old comic books, playing up the licensing deal they had with DC Comics. I desperately wanted to go to Palisades Park and go down the Batman Slide, but I was stuck in the Chicago suburbs. Much later, I learned that by the time I saw those ads, the park had closed. Alas.
Thanks to Dial B For Blog for posting one of those old ads in today's issue.
