A Capitol Fourth I

I'm no longer a member, but I can't help but be a little offended that the National Symphony asked the Choral Arts Society to perform with them tonight instead of the Cathedral Choral Society.

I went down to see the Capitol Fourth concert a few years ago, and it was a good show, but the problem was that if I was close enough to the Capitol to hear and see the orchestra, I was too far away from the Washington Monument to hear the fireworks. I could see them, of course, but really, what's the point of fireworks if you can't hear them explode?

Hey, remember when James Watt banned the Beach Boys from performing on the National Mall? In a way, it might be nice if that was still in effect, because man, they don't sound very good tonight.
