Gertrude, 1975
color lithograph and collage on paper mounted on paperboard
Smithsonian American Art Museum, Washington, D.C.
This is apparently a full-frontal portrait of Gertrude Stein that has been mounted in such a way to make it lokk like she's sitting down. This piece is part of the collection at the Renwick Gallery, my favorite Smithsonian museum, but I can't recall ever having seen it there. I may just be blanking on it, though it could very well be in storage or on tour.
