Situ is what they call a Plein Air painter, meaning he paints outdoors using only natural light. And to prove the point, here's a picture of him posing with the painting above at the site where he painted it:
One of my very few regrets from my trip to California two summers ago is that I didn't have time to visit Emerald Bay. I don't suppose it was too very different than the rest of Lake Tahoe, which I got to see up close from on board the Woodwind II, but I still wanted to see it. Oh well, next time.
