Ten places I haven't visited but would like to:
- The cupola at the top of the dome of the U.S. Capitol, Washington, D.C.
- Fallingwater, Mill Run, Pa.
- The offices of DC Comics, New York City
- Glasgow, Scotland
- Angkor Wat, Cambodia
- Sydney, Australia
- Jones Salvage Yard, Rocky Beach, Calif.
- Dry Tortugas National Park, Fla.
- Bilbao, Spain
jenelope asked to see this list. I was convinced that I had already done a list like this, but when I started looking back through the archives I discovered that what I was remembering was a travel meme I posted last year. I was going to just take my answers from the meme and use them as the basis for this list, but that really would be cheating. (I did keep a couple from the original six. Sue me.)
Astute observers may note that the first three places on this list are within easy driving distance of where I live, and that with a little effort and a reckless disregard for traffic safety I could visit all three in one day. Which is theoretically true, but proximity doesn't help much in two of the three cases. For one thing, you can only visit the cupola atop the Capitol in the company of a Member of Congress, and the only Member of Congress I know well enough to ask for a dome tour is dead. (I'm fairly certain he couldn't have taken me anyway, because of his back problems, but he might have been able to arrange it.) Likewise with DC Comics; I don't know anyone there who could get me in. As for Fallingwater, I just haven't gotten around to it. One of these days.
As for number seven, just because it's not real doesn't mean I don't want to go there.
