I think the one on the left was designed by Olver Queen, while the one on the right was designed by Travis Morgan. And that's likely the nerdiest joke you've seen all day. (Check out this cartoon if you don't get it.)
Incidentally, the Gossip Girl cover is a fine example of something I noticed the other day when I was working in the teen section. There are a lot of books out there featuring images of young women with their heads partially or entirely hidden. Other examples include Shrimp by Rachel Cohn, Second Helpings by Megan McCafferty, The Au Pairs by Melissa de la Cruz, South Beach by Aimee Friedman, A Really Nice Prom Mess by Brian Sloan, not to mention the rest of the Gossip Girl books. Maybe it's just me, but something disturbs me about this particular trend. I can't really put it into words, but they kind of creep me out a little, especially the Gossip Girls ones. Am I alone on this?
