Greg Sorenson wanted to see the little-remembered Sesame Street character Roosevelt Franklin mentioned in a list. Roosevelt was popular enough at one time to be featured as the star of his own record album, but he was eventually pulled from the cast because of complaints that he reinforced negative African-American stereotypes.
Fat Blue, by the way, is not a parody of the chess-playing computer Deep Blue, as I assumed when I read the name, but rather is the official name of the character who appears in skits as a restaurant patron with Grover as the bumbling waiter.
