It's time once again to indulge my fondness for Christmas cards depicting Santa Claus using non-traditional forms of transportation to make his rounds. This one features an illustration by beloved postcard artist Ellen Clapsaddle of Santa delivering gifts in something that bears a vague resemblance to an airship of some sort. As is usual when looking at cards of this type, it's best not to think too hard about how this particular airship is supposed to be able to move in any direction other than straight up. You might instead think about why there's a basket of hearts hanging off the side of the gondola. I like to think that Santa ripped them, still beating, out of the chests of bad little boys and girls. It's the romantic in me.
