Here's an oddity: a Soviet Christmas card from 1975. I had no idea they celebrated Christmas in the Soviet Union. What about all that "opiate of the masses" jazz? If I'd been the Soviet premier and/or General Secretary of the Communist Party, you can bet I'd have abolished Christmas and replaced it with a celebration of the formal declaration of the Soviet state, which took place on December 30, 1922.
If anyone out there can read Russian, I'd like to know what the text on the card says.
