Ten random things: Reader Request Month, day 11

Ten works that will be performed by the Houston Chamber Orchestra during the 2006-07 concert season:

  1. Charles Fitts, Concerto for Flute and Orchestra (Nov. 6, 2006)
  2. Maurice Ravel, Le Tombeau de Couperin (Sept. 18, 2006)
  3. Jean Sibelius, “Guten Abend” from Rakastava (March 26, 2007)
  4. J. Todd Frazier, Brazos de Dios (March 26, 2007)
  5. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Serenade No. 6, K. 239 (Nov. 6, 2006)
  6. Dave Anderson, Concerto for Double Bass (Jan. 29, 2007)
  7. Camille Saint-Saëns, Havanaise (Sept. 18, 2006)
  8. Ralph Vaughan Williams, Concerto for Oboe and Strings (Jan. 29, 2007)
  9. Georg Philip Telemann, Water Music (Nov. 6, 2006)
  10. Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Concerto for Piano in A Major, K. 488 (May 7, 2007)

Today's list is for marinwood, who wished to see an oboe concerto mentioned in a list. Actually, what she asked for precisely was "oboe concertos," which implies that she wanted to see a list of oboe concertos. I thought that would make for a boring list, though. I tried to make it up to her by looking for a performance ensemble in her neck of the woods, so she might have the opportunity to see the oboe concert listed here performed live, but the closest I could find was in Summit, N.J. Alas.
