This is where we had Easter brunch this afternoon: The Manor House Restaurant at Poplar Springs Inn. Without a doubt, the fanciest restaurant I've eaten at in, jeez, I don't know, ten years? Maybe more. It was a three-course prix fixe menu; I had Savory Gorgonzola, Roquefort & Pear Cheese Cake; Petite Filet of Beef and Eggs Served with Potato Soufflé, Bacon, and Turkey Sausage; and Orange Chiffon Angel Food Cake with Fresh Berries and Pama Sabayon. (You can see the whole menu here, for now at least.) The cheese cake was a bit stronger than I might have liked, but I found that by eating a piece of pear with each bite, the sweetness of the fruit offset the tartness of the cheese very nicely. (My niece, who got the same thing and was expecting a sweet cheesecake, ate all her pears first and was not overly enthused about the rest.) The entree was very nice, though I didn't much care for the turkey sausage. The dessert was excellent, though as I said to my niece (who had the same thing), "I ordered this not knowing what Pama Sabayon was, and now that I've eaten the whole thing I still don't know." (Apparently, it's a light custard, better known as zabaglione, flavored with a pomegranate liqueur.)
