Ten things I did in Europe:
- Toured Dachau
- Visited the ruins of Pompeii
- Ate gelato in the Piazza del Collosseo in Rome
- Took a cable car to the top of Mount Pilatus
- Got my bag stuck in the door of a London Underground train
- Viewed the Mona Lisa at the Louvre in Paris
- Saw the ski jump built for the Winter Olympics in Innsbruck
- Was disgusted by the stench emanating from the canals of Venice
- Bought a copy of So Long and Thanks For All the Fish at an English-language bookstore in Florence
- Received a mild shock from an electric fence near Lucerne
Today's list is for a2zmom, who requested gelato. Mmm,
gelato.
I visited Europe in 1984 with a group of students from my high school.
It was a twenty day tour starting in London and finishing up in
Frankfurt, hitting Paris, Lucerne, Florence, Rome, Venice, Innsbruck,
Munich, and Heidelberg in between. Fun trip, but a bit overwhelming.
At the time we were planning the trip, we were enamored of the idea of
visiting as many places as possible, but in hindsight we probably would
have been better served by spending more time in fewer cities.
C'est la vie.
