Our Lady Hodegetria, n.d.
Technique mélange

Polonaise Art Gallery, Woodstock, Vt.
Today's Christmas art comes from Vermont, a state in which I once drove over a mountain on an unpaved road to find the Daniel Webster Monument, which turned out to be a largish rock with a plaque bolted to it. What can I say, it seemed like a good idea before I got there.
In case you were wondering, the hodegetria "is the iconography depicting the Theotokos [literally, "the one who gives birth to God"] holding the child Jesus Christ on her side while pointing at Him as the source of salvation for mankind." Thank you, Wikipedia.
