Annies on my mind

ASIFA-Hollywood presented the 30th Annual Annie Awards this weekend, honoring the best in animation in 2002. The Simpsons picked up a well deserved Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Television Production award, beating out Kim Possible, Futurama, and Invader Zim -- tough category! Futurama won an Annie for Outstanding Directing in an Animated Television Production. And Daveigh Chase was honored in the Voice Acting in an Animated Feature Production category for her work as Lilo in Lilo and Stitch.

Unfortunately, that was the only award won by Lilo and Stitch. Miyazaki's Spirited Away won in every category in which it was nominated, including Outstanding Achievement in an Animated Theatrical Feature, and Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron won most of the rest. I didn't see either of those features, but nonetheless I can't help but be disappointed that Lilo and Stitch didn't win more awards. I loved that movie!
