Where does this come from?

OK, I need help identifying something. I have memory of a comedy bit about a horse race featuring a bunch of awful puns based on the names of the horse, and I remember one line in particular: "College Boy and College Girl are neck-and-neck." I thought that this was part of the Spike Jones recording of the William Tell Overture, which does in fact feature many awful puns in a horse racing context -- "Cabbage is second by a head" and the like -- but not the line I remember. So where the heck did I hear it? Any ideas?
