Ten random things: June 6

Ten Miss Worlds, or possibly Misses World:

  1. Norma Gladys Cappagli of Argentina (1960)
  2. Jennifer Josephine Hosten of Grenada (1970)
  3. Gabriella Brum of West Germany (1980)
  4. Aneta Kreglicka of Poland (1989)
  5. Yukta Mookhey of India (1999)
  6. May Louise Flodin of Sweden (1952)
  7. Catharina Johanna Lodders of Netherlands (1962)
  8. Belinda Roma Green of Australia (1972)
  9. Kimberley Santos of Guam (1980)
  10. Gina Marie Tolleson of United States (1990)

Yes, there were two Miss Worlds, or Misses World, in 1980. Gabriella Brum resigned 18 hours after winning the title, so the runner-up, Kimberly Santos, crowned to serve out the remainder of the term. There is, incredibly, a detailed and fairly interesting article about the 1980 pageant and its aftermath available online, so if you care to know more about it, check it out.
