Conspiracy theory

When my roommate was talking to me last night about Hungary's many and varied triumphs in the arena of Olympic water polo, he said that if Hungary wins this year, it will be the first time any one has won three consecutive Olympic golds in water polo. I happened to be looking the Wikipedia page on Olympic water polo, so I pointed out that Great Britain had done just that thing, in 1908, 1912, and 1920. He explained that didn't count, because the Olympics scheduled to be held in 1916 had been canceled. Which led me to conclude that World War I -- which began when an Austro-Hungarian anarchist assassinated an Austro-Hungarian archduke -- was a Hungarian plot aimed at protecting Hungary's future dominance in Olympic water polo. It's also worth noting that Budapest had bid for the 1916 Games, but had lost them to Berlin. See, all the pieces fit together!
