Advent 2008: Blue Christmas

I'm not a huge Elvis fan, but I love his 1957 recording of "Blue Christmas." It's overwrought and more than a little cheesy by modern standards, but he sells it in a way most artists have not been able to match. And while I can't really articulate why, I adore the way it ends, with Elvis crooning, "I'll have a blue, blue blue blue Christmas." Sublime.

Elvis Presley - Blue Christmas (MP3, 2.0MB)

2003: Chanticleer
2004: The Madonna of Humility
2005: Greetings from California
2006: from Hogfather
2007: The Adoration of the Shepherds
