Ten people nominated for Academy Awards for portraying real people:
- Frank Langella (as Richard M. Nixon in Frost/Nixon)
- Cate Blanchett (as Queen Elizabeth I of England in Elizabeth)
- Jason Robards (as Ben Bradlee in All the President's Men)
- Elizabeth McGovern (as Evelyn Nesbit in Ragtime)
- Debbie Reynolds (as Margaret Brown in The Unsinkable Molly Brown)
- Yul Brenner (as King Mongkut of Siam in The King and I
- Margaret Wycherly (as Mother York in Sergeant York)
- Joseph Schildkraut (as Capt. Alfred Dreyfus in The Life of Emile Zola)
- Norma Shearer (as Elizabeth Barrett in The Barretts of Wimpole Street)
- Sean Penn (as Harvey Milk in Milk)
I spent most of the afternoon today at the movie theater, seeing two of the Best Picture nominees I had not yet seen: Frost/Nixon and Milk. I liked them both, the latter slightly more than the former (though I liked Langella's performance more than Penn's), but I didn't like either one as much as Slumdog Millionaire.
