Ten not at all random things presented in a (sort of) random order: March 23

Ten animated short films directed by Chuck Jones:

  1. Elmer's Candid Camera (1940)
  2. What's Opera Doc (1954)
  3. The Dot and the Line (1965)
  4. Haredevil Hare (1948)
  5. One Froggy Evening (1966)
  6. Duck Amuck (1953)
  7. Sniffles and the Bookworm (1939)
  8. The Night Watchman (1938)
  9. Prest-O, Change-O (1939)
  10. Scent-imental Over You (1947)

Tomorrow night, TCM will pay tribute to the career of legendary animator Chuck Jones by airing air these ten cartoons, his 1970 adaptation of The Phantom Tollbooth, and a new documentary about him, starting at 8 PM (all times Eastern). I don't think Jones was as consistently good as Tex Avery, but there's no question that Duck Amuck and The Dot and the Line are among the best animated short films ever made, and One Froggy Evening and What's Opera Doc are not far behind. Conveniently, those four films are being show in a block, starting at 9:30 PM and 1:30 AM. Watch them!
