- American Smelting And Refining Company (delisted June 1, 1959)
- Victor Talking Machine Company (delisted January 8, 1929)
- Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company (delisted November 1, 1999)
- F. W. Woolworth Company (delisted March 17, 1997)
The Dow Jones Industrial Average is a stock market index composed of 30 of the largest and most widely held public companies in the United States. Founded in 1896, dozens of companoes have been added and dropped from the index over the years; of the original companies, only one remains, General Electric. The most recent change occured (or will occur, depending on how you look at it) today, with General Motors and Citigroup being replaced by Cisco Systems and The Travelers Companies.
