As you may have heard, yesterday was Election Day here in Virginia, and as usual I spent the entire day at the polls working as an officer of election. It was not a particularly exciting day at the precinct. We were not overwhelming busy, though for an off-year election I think we did pretty well; we saw 1,056 voters pass through the door, which represents a bit more than a third of the registered voters in the precinct. Traffic was pretty steady throughout the day, but with three poll books we all had plenty of downtime between voters. Which led to this conversation with a voter who saw my copy of Glen David Gold's Sunnyside sitting beside my poll book:
VOTER: You have time to read?
JHEATON: Well, not right now, because I'm in the middle of this crossword puzzle.
