To that end, here are two Christmas songs, by which I mean they are songs I heard for the first time on Christmas. My nephew David and I were driving back to Virginia from Pennsylvania; David was flipping around the stations without stopping to actually listen to anything, as 14-year-old boys are wont to do. He paused long enough on one channel—I think it was XM 26, The Pulse—to hear enough of something to know that I wanted to hear more of it. So I demanded he go back, and thus did I hear for the first time "Girls Who Play Guitars" by the British band Maximo Park. When that song ended, the title of the next song popped up on the console: "Boys Who Rape (Should All Be Destroyed)" by the Raveonettes. Well, we couldn't not listen to a song with a title like that. I don't really have anything clever or interesting to say about either song; I just like them, and perhaps you will too.
