A Tiger, 9th century B.C.
Freer Gallery of Art and Arthur M. Sackler Gallery, Washington
I often try to choose works for my Sunday art posts to correspond with whatever is happening on the Sunday in question. But this week there were so many thematic options I couldn't make up my mind. Should I post something with an Olympics theme? Something to celebrate the Feast of Saints Cyril and Methodius, or Valentine's Day? Or Candlemas? Or Chinese New Year? Obviously I ultimately decided to go with the last one, though I gave serious consideration to the first three as well.
Anyway, this is the Chinese year of the tiger. If you were born under the sign of the tiger, you are rebellious and dynamic, a warrior and the center of attention. You are quick-tempered but considerate; affectionate but careless. If you believe in that sort of thing, at least.
